Chicago Force has not spoken publicly; however, we do not want silence to equal complicity.
Fans of all colors, sexual orientations, religions, and genders are welcome in Chicago Force.
Star Wars – from its very beginning in 1977 until today – has had a viewpoint that is anti-fascist, anti-racist, and pro-feminism. The franchise has evolved and improved its representation of different groups over the decades. We, the members of Chicago Force, love this franchise for many reasons, including these viewpoints.
We believe that this country, along with this fandom, continues to suffer from systemic racism, homophobia, and sexism. We believe that these stem from fear, and as Master Yoda has said, “Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
We would like to unequivocally state:
Black Lives Matter
Love is Love
Cosplay is Not Consent
As Lucasfilm has stated, “The evil that is racism must stop. We will commit to being part of the change that is long overdue in the world.”
If this set of beliefs about Star Wars and the philosophy of Chicago Force does not comport with your own, perhaps another fan group might be better suited to you.
